January

3rd - Antonio Patrao, sch. Natalie Hammond, sacrificed to the sea while fishing off Cashes, during bitter cold weather, when his dory overturned.


March

4th - Sch. Arthur D. Story lost with crew of seven men, bound from Belleoram, Newfoundland to Gloucester with a load of frozen herring.

7th - Capt. Charles Dailey and Stephen Olson  lost when his dory was upset, from sch. Oretha F. Spinney.


April

12th - Capt. Svante Karlson, Capt. Alfred Paulson, Clifford Nelson, three members of the ill-fated Portland gill netter Elaine, which was swallowed by the sea when the vessel attempted to cross Annisquam bar at the height of a storm..

22nd - Ralph Capucco, mackerel seining in Capt. Drum, fell overboard off Cape May, N. J.


May

3rd - The body of Simon Muise is found near the Gorton-Pew dock.


June

1st - Randall Walters, from sch. Teazer, was plunged overboard when his dory overturned off Matinicus, Maine.
