Fisherman Drowned in Dive From Dragger

The local dragger Bettina, Capt. Patrick Kelley, arrived at Boston Fish pier late Saturday afternoon with her American flag at half-mast for the loss of one of her crew, Reuben Kenney, 50 years, of Dorchester.

Capt. Kelley reported that as they were nearing home about 3 o'clock, Kenney who with others was engaged in dressing fish, suddenly left his position at the bench, and dove overboard, before anyone could prevent him.  That is the last that any of the crew saw him, the skipper said. Kenney had no people that anyone at the pier knew of.  The crew knew of no reason for the strange act.
