The Day Star

 

Schooner Day Star, in the shore mackerel fishery, was lost in the gale of September 18th, 1870, with her crew of twelve men, viz.:

Simon McKie, master
James R. Clarke
Charles Thompson
John McDonald
Harraden Reed
Andrew Ryan
Frank Anderson
Francisco Constanta Scurpa
Francisco Joseph
William Thompson
Thomas Power

and a boy whose name is unknown

Owned by James Mansfield & sons. Valued at $4,000; insured for $2,750.
