The Gorham Babson

 

Sch. Gorham Babson sailed on the 8th of February 1864.
She had a crew of nine persons, as follows:

Daniel McPhee, master, leaves widow and three children
James Greenleaf, leaves widow and three children
William Swin, married
Thomas Spring, leaves a widow
John Murphy
Angus Sutherland
Daniel Ready
Archibald McDonald
Elijah Demings

The Gorham Babson was 84 tons burthen, built at Essex in 1861, and owned by H. C. Knapp & Co. She was valued with her outfits at $7000, on which there was an insurance of $4500, at the Gloucester Mutual Fishing Insurance Office, and $1000 at the Washington Office, Boston.
