The William J. Dale

 

Schooner William J. Dale sailed for the Bay of Islands, Newfoundland, in November 1872, and started for home, but never reached port.  Given up as lost in January of 1873.
Had a crew of nine men, viz.:

Murdock McNeil, master
Peter Flynn
James Scott
John Conway
Adalbert Gilley
James Cook
James Lawler

and two men, names unknown.

Valued at $5,800, on which is claimed an insurance of $5,500
