January

6th - John W. Wagner swept to death by heavy sea, lost his life  pumping storm-beaten The Independent II. Left widow and six children.


July

14th - The Governor Al Smith a death-story and rescue at sea while the craft was hunting for swordfish.


August

11th - John Mello, Jr. struck down by lightning bolt while standing at masthead during storm and was killed from The Natalie S.


December

2nd - The Rhodora, Tony Perry lost trying to board his vessel.

19th - The Alpar  dories had been picked up except one and when the vessel was run down to where it drifted, it was found to be empty.
